Edensor

This book is one of Andrea Hirata's masterpiece, from the tetralogi of Laskar Pelangi. It's tell about the author's life, and his experience during his study abroad when he got scholarship at Universite de Paris, Sorbonne, France.

First of all, I want to give u know a little about Andrea Hirata. He was born at Belitong. Even his major study is economics, he really fond of science - physics, chemistry, astronomy - and of course literature. Edensor is the third novel, after the two best seller novel, Laskar Pelangi and Sang Pemimpi.
He was a very attractive and naughty boy, who always had a foolish idea and something that made others feel overhelmed.

The title of the book, Edensor, was taken from the name of the village at somewhere in London, England. Before he suddenly find that, he only know that place from the book that A Ling gave to him. A Ling, his lost first love.

The story begin with a short experience but really mean for him. In his childhood, he precisely know and appreciate life from the man called Weh who always grumble about his own life.

His parents changed his name three times, in case to make him has good attitude. The third time his parents wanted to change his name, they ordered Ikal himself to choose. Ikal have just read a magazine and found name Andrea, an Italian name, from the name of woman, Andrea Galliano.

In this story, Ikal and his far cousin, Arai, run many unpredictable experience, since they meeting, after Arai's suffer of loss of his parents and being all alone when he was 8 years old. But, Arai is one of a very strong boy in his age. He had an open minded. He always said that they must put their dreams high, because they have nothing.
He said, "Put ur dreams high, coz God will embrace it."

And their big dreams since they still in a senior high school was.. They wanted to be at Paris.

And the wheels of life brought them into the very fantastic experience in Paris! Well, how can they got the scholarship, it can be read at the second book, Sang Pemimpi - The Dreamer-.

Many obstacles they had been, many unforgetable moment. They survive to live in a strange country, with such a different culture.

Ever found love, even a little, with German girl, Katya. But they broken after Andrea felt that he didn't love her. And Katya ever said too, that love is a tv. If u don't like the show, just change the channel.

Andrea and Arai, also ever been at Jim Morisson's cemetery, when the day of his death memorial. It was Arai's biggest dreams.

And Andrea also meet Andrea Galliano, without awareness.. I think It was so amazing..

They also ever did the crazy things, being backpacker travelled around 42 country in Europe. They survived, looked for money by being a artistic sculpture life and got the money from people passed by. Sometimes they were so rich when many people gave attention to them, but on the contrary, they could become so poor, when people ignore them.

This book is so interesting, meaning, and I think, a must read book. Well.. so many things we can get from here, a struggle in life, high dreams, and also great experience that can push us into high passion.. to have the big dream too..
